Bail has been granted to a 35-year-old Cassada Gardens man who allegedly married a second time while his first wife was still living.
Josh Matthias secured his release this week after appearing before Magistrate Andrew Mighty, who imposed strict bail conditions: a $5,000 bond requiring no upfront payment, two sureties, surrender of all travel documentation, and a prohibition on contacting the alleged victim.
Authorities allege Matthias participated in a wedding ceremony with another woman at Fort James on April 9, 2025, despite remaining legally wed to his first spouse. Police arrested him following their investigation and laid formal bigamy charges.
The Cassada Gardens resident is due back in court on December 17, 2025 for continued proceedings.

This is why some pastors need to slow down. Blessing marriage like they blessing a cruise ship.
When cash is involved, that’s what we get.
Church is now an enterprise
So wait ….lol the first wife alive? And he just roll up Fort James like ‘Let’s try again’? Jail would be too sof
Comment *Boy just collect wife like how people collect Marvel movies. Part Two drop before Part One finish.
Bigamy is serious; hope the court ensures all parties are treated fairly while the case proceeds
For such a serious offence I find the bail low
Glad the case is moving through the courts. Let’s see what the facts really are.
