Man Accused of Bigamy Granted Bail

13 November 2025 - 17:07

Bail has been granted to a 35-year-old Cassada Gardens man who allegedly married a second time while his first wife was still living.

Josh Matthias secured his release this week after appearing before Magistrate Andrew Mighty, who imposed strict bail conditions: a $5,000 bond requiring no upfront payment, two sureties, surrender of all travel documentation, and a prohibition on contacting the alleged victim.

Authorities allege Matthias participated in a wedding ceremony with another woman at Fort James on April 9, 2025, despite remaining legally wed to his first spouse. Police arrested him following their investigation and laid formal bigamy charges.

The Cassada Gardens resident is due back in court on December 17, 2025 for continued proceedings.
