Police have opened a murder investigation following the death of 43-year-old man Louis Armstrong who was shot in Upper Fort Road early Friday morning.

Armstrong died at about 7:24 a.m. on Saturday while undergoing treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. He had been hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, eye, and left hand.

According to police, officers were called to the scene near Toy Toy Restaurant shortly after reports of gunfire. Armstrong was found lying on the ground critically injured. Emergency responders transported him to hospital, where his condition deteriorated overnight.
