Louis Armstrong Jr.

The Fort Road community is in mourning following the death of 43-year-old Louis Armstrong Jr., who succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries early Saturday morning despite exhaustive efforts by medical staff.

Armstrong was shot early Friday morning as he exited his vehicle at his home. He sustained severe wounds to the head, chest, eyes, and left hand. Emergency services rushed him to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where doctors and nurses worked tirelessly throughout the day and night to keep him alive.

Hospital sources say teams fought “every step of the way,” stabilizing him, administering critical care, and monitoring him closely as his condition fluctuated. Despite their best efforts, Armstrong’s injuries proved too extensive, and he died at approximately 7:24 a.m. on Saturday.

The case has now officially transitioned from a shooting investigation to a murder investigation, and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Armstrong’s death has left family, friends, and neighbours devastated, with many describing the killing as another painful reminder of rising gun violence in the country.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the attack.
