Registration for Salvation Army Food Packages to take place next week

Those in need who are unable to provide for their families this year are encouraged to register for the Salvation Army Food Package program.

Over the years, the program has distributed hundreds of packages. Registration is next week, December 2, at the Salvation Army Citadel, Long Street, from 9am–3pm.

“We’re asking persons who are coming to bring a government-issued photo ID. We’ll take the information from the card, and you’ll also receive a card which will tell you what date in December, which is the 17th or the 18th, that you will come to collect your package. We know that persons are taking care of others, so you can bring that person’s card to register on Tuesday, the 2nd of December as well,” Secretary Valerie Gonsalves-Barreiro explained.

The Salvation Army is open to accepting donations.

“It’s just to contact us at our headquarters and, you know, give their availability. If it’s donations they want to contribute, they can drop it off at the Salvation Army on 36 Long Street, and also, they can call us at 785-5019, and we’ll make arrangement to collect those donations,” Major Raymoncil Pierre Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army in Antigua and Barbuda added.
