Police have launched a manhunt for a Golden Grove man who remains at large following a weekend escape from the St John’s Police Station lockup.
Dante Hunkins, along with two other detainees, broke out of custody around 5:00 p.m. Saturday in an incident that saw damage to a section of the holding cell.
The two other escapees—Devonjay Bird and Pete Cummings, both of Nut Grove—were recaptured by authorities on Monday and are now facing additional charges of Escaping Lawful Confinement and Malicious Damage.
However, Hunkins remains on the run as of press time, prompting police to appeal to the public for assistance in locating him.
According to police reports, the three men managed to breach the cell infrastructure during their escape, though specific details about how the breakout occurred have not been disclosed.
The successful recapture of Bird and Cummings came after a search operation. Both men will appear before the courts to answer to their original charges as well as the new offenses stemming from the escape incident.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Hunkins’ whereabouts to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

What happen they met him go? How he escape?
A photo of the escapee would be so helpful
I get so sick and tired of names and photos not been presented to the public. How are we to know who or what these people look like. The same with rapists, robbers and murderers we need to know their identities.
How three men break out the station though? Something nah sound right at all!
That’s crazy
They better check all up Golden Grove side his friends must hiding him
Glad the other two back in custody, hope they fix the damage they cause too.
Had ABS not report that two were captured we would have never even known they were missing cause the police never issued any bulletin. Shame on them. Now they want the public help to locate the one still on the run
Every time it’s ‘manhunt underway’ but then days pass and nothing.
Police need to tighten up security. That could’ve ended way worse.
