The Antigua and Barbuda Association of Persons with Disabilities (ABAPD) has concluded the year with heartfelt generosity, donating essential mobility equipment to two individuals who rely on community support to improve their quality of life.
Among the beneficiaries was Kemoy George of Yorks, who lives with a walking disability and was presented with a pre-owned medical wheelchair. The surprise gift is expected to greatly enhance his ability to move around independently within his community.

“He can use his chair to get around the community,” a representative said as George received the donation with gratitude.
The Association also gifted a walker to Paulette Campbell, who has been experiencing challenges navigating the city. She, too, was taken by surprise and expressed deep appreciation for the support.
President of the ABAPD, Bernard Warner, said the donations were sourced through contributions of pre-owned medical equipment—an initiative he hopes more residents will continue to support.
“While we appreciate new items, we also accept the used ones we can refurbish,” Warner explained. “I am talking about beds, wheelchairs, and anything you think we can use.”

As part of its year-end outreach, the Association also distributed hundreds of food packages to families and individuals across Antigua and Barbuda, reinforcing its commitment to the well-being of persons with disabilities.
The ABAPD says continued community involvement remains vital to ensuring independence, dignity, and improved living conditions for those with mobility challenges.
