Antigua and Barbuda has rolled out an extensive slate of new events, experiences, and tourism upgrades for 2026, signaling a renewed push to diversify its visitor offerings while strengthening its reputation as a premier Caribbean destination.
In a destination update released on January 19, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) outlined a packed calendar of international sporting events, cultural festivals, culinary celebrations, new hotel developments, and major infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the overall visitor experience.
ABTA Chief Executive Officer Colin C. James said the initiatives reflect the destination’s commitment to delivering more authentic and high-quality experiences for travelers.

“Antigua and Barbuda is fully open and welcoming, and for 2026, we are proud to highlight developments and experiences that will deliver more authentic experiences to our visitors, alongside tourism investments that will enhance the quality of our product offerings,” James stated.
The year’s events will kick off in April with the inaugural Antigua Racing Cup from April 9 to 12, adding another high-profile regatta to the island’s already prestigious sailing calendar, which includes Antigua Sailing Week and the RORC Caribbean 600.

Also in April, the AUA Rohrman Trail & Swim Fest will take place from April 11 to 12, featuring trail races, open-water swims, and youth triathlons that are expected to attract athletes from across the region and beyond.
May will see the return of two major signature events. Antigua and Barbuda Culinary Month will run throughout the month, highlighted by a two-week Restaurant Week from May 3 to 17 and the FAB – Food, Art & Beverage Fest on May 23. Several internationally recognized chefs of Antiguan and Barbudan heritage, including Kareem Roberts, Andi Oliver, Claude Lewis, and Nina Compton, are slated to participate in select culinary activations.

Meanwhile, the Run in Paradise event will celebrate its 10th anniversary in May, drawing runners to a scenic course that winds along Antigua’s coastline and concludes at Fort James Beach.
From July 25 to August 4, Antigua Carnival will once again take center stage with calypso and soca competitions, steel pan performances, high-energy fetes, and the colorful Parade of the Bands.
In November, Antigua and Barbuda Art Week will transform the islands into a vibrant showcase of local and regional creativity through exhibitions, studio tours, workshops, fashion shows, and live performances.
On the accommodation front, the new boutique luxury property Moon Gate is scheduled to open in 2026, while existing resorts such as Hermitage Bay and Curtain Bluff have completed significant refurbishments, including upgraded villas, enhanced spa facilities, and new signature suites.
The destination is also expanding its culinary and adventure offerings. The Rocks Group has opened Fat Urchin, a new two-level dining concept in Jolly Harbour Marina, while Rock Adventures has introduced transparent boat tours and crystal kayak eco-experiences.
Major infrastructure upgrades are also underway. A runway rehabilitation project at V.C. Bird International Airport is expected to be completed in November 2026. Additionally, Antigua Cruise Port is set to unveil its new cruise terminal on January 24 as part of the Upland Development Project, with full completion scheduled for July.
Tourism officials say these developments underscore Antigua and Barbuda’s continued investment in its tourism sector as it seeks to attract new visitors while enhancing experiences for returning travelers.
