Masked Intruders Enter EMS Compound, Traumatize Lone Dispatcher

A masked man entered the Emergency Medical Services compound in the early hours of the morning recently, raising serious concerns about security at one of the country’s critical emergency response facilities.

According to information shared with Antigua.news, the incident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m., at a time when both ambulances on duty had left the compound almost simultaneously in response to two separate emergency calls.

It is believed the intruder may have been observing the facility, as the break-in happened within minutes of the ambulances departing.
At the time, a lone female dispatcher was inside the building. The masked man reportedly searched through bags, taking money and other small personal items. No physical injuries were reported; however, the dispatcher was left deeply shaken by the ordeal.

The situation escalated when the dispatcher began screaming, which frightened the intruder away. Police were alerted and arrived at the scene within minutes.

While no staff member was physically harmed, EMS personnel say the emotional and psychological impact of the incident has been significant.

Sources within EMS have also questioned how the facility operated overnight without on-site security, noting that a security officer was reportedly posted at the compound the following night.

The incident comes amid growing concern about safety at essential public-service facilities, particularly those operating around the clock and often staffed by small teams or lone workers.

No official police statement has been released yet, and investigations are ongoing.
