Fatal motorcycle crash case in limbo as DPP signals withdrawal

Nearly two and a half years after a young woman died in a motorcycle accident just days before her 24th birthday, the prosecution of the man charged in her death appears to be heading toward an abrupt end.

The Director of Public Prosecutions told the High Court on Thursday of an intention to discontinue the case against Jameel Adams, who is charged with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the November 14, 2022 crash that killed Annik Lawrence.

However, no formal withdrawal has been filed, no reason has been given for the decision.

Adams, from Bendals, was charged after the accident on All Saints Road in which Lawrence was reportedly riding as a passenger on a motorcycle he was driving. Authorities say Adams lost control of the bike, causing both riders to fall. Police sources indicate Adams also suffered injuries in the crash.

The incident occurred just days before what would have been Lawrence’s birthday.

The case now remains in legal limbo, with no clarity on when or if an official withdrawal will be submitted to the court.

  1. She killed someone in a traffic accident and after doing time in prison she came out and fell victim to the road. Kyodie family didn’t think they got justice with her meager sentence and now look at the same justice system that gave her a slap on the wrist for her reckless driving on Factory Rd turn around and betray her by not holding Adams accountable for her death despite him being in total control of the bike they fell from. Not only did he not immediately seek help for her he tried to hide the evidence. FULL CIRCLE!

    • Oh yes I remember this all too well. She even played t-shirt mas after the incident and watched me full in my face. Life is a funny fickle thing. Kyodie and everyone else involved that got injured didn’t receive the justice they should’ve and now she is dealt the same hand. Sad but life
