Deon Lloyd

The man charged with killing Javorn Williams at Boggy Peak on the second day of 2025 will have his day in court next month when a magistrate decides whether he should face the High Court.

Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel has set April 15 as the date to conduct committal proceedings for Deon Lloyd, the Lower Ottos man accused of the nation’s first murder of 2025.

During the committal hearing, the magistrate will review all evidence gathered by police and determine whether it is strong enough to warrant sending Lloyd to the High Court to stand trial before a judge and jury.

Lloyd is accused of fatally attacking the 35-year-old Williams during a violent encounter at the popular Boggy Peak landmark on January 2, 2025.

The case has faced multiple adjournments since the charges were first laid more than a year ago.

If committed for trial, Lloyd would join others awaiting murder trials at the High Court.
