Two Charged After Police Seize Suspected Stolen Gas Cylinders

Police have arrested and charged two men following the seizure of several propane cooking gas cylinders believed to have been stolen earlier this week.

Marcus Gilpin, 29, of Skerritts Pasture, and 28-year-old Jabari Lake of Cedar Grove are each facing two counts of unlawful possession of propane cooking gas cylinders. The charges stem from alleged offences committed on Monday, February 16, in Paynters and Skerritts Pasture.

According to police, officers attached to the Langfords Police Station, supported by the Special Services Unit, executed search warrants at properties connected to the two men. During the operations, law enforcement officials recovered three 100-pound propane cylinders and one 20-pound cylinder. Investigators also seized other items suspected to have been stolen.

Both men were taken into custody and subsequently charged. They are expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court at a later date.

Police say investigations are ongoing as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the matter and whether the recovered cylinders are linked to additional reports of theft.

In the meantime, members of the public who may have had propane cooking gas cylinders stolen are being urged to contact the Langfords Police Station at 462-562-5730 or the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913. Anonymous tips can also be made through Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
