United Progressive Party (UPP) representative for All Saints West Harold Lovell delivered a fiery call for unity and change on Tuesday night, as the party officially ratified its slate of candidates at Freedom Hall ahead of the April 30 general election.

Addressing a charged crowd of supporters, Lovell described the UPP as more than a political party, calling it a “movement” driven by people-centered values and a vision for national transformation.

“I am a proud member of a team of capable, committed individuals who want to move this country forward,” Lovell said, emphasizing that the moment demands decisive change.

He told supporters that Antigua and Barbuda has reached a critical turning point, insisting that “the power in the people is greater than the people in power.”

Lovell underscored that the UPP’s philosophy places citizens at the heart of development, adding that the party is committed to governance rooted in fairness, unity, and opportunity.

Acknowledging past divisions, he urged supporters to move forward together, warning that attempts had been made to divide the movement through misinformation and discord.

“But I am here tonight to tell you—we are united. You can see it, you can feel it, the love that is here tonight,” he declared to loud applause.

Lovell also called on supporters to leave past grievances behind and focus on the future, stressing that unity must go beyond slogans and translate into collective action.

“Unity is not just a word—it is our strength,” he said.

As the party gears up for the election campaign, Lovell rallied supporters with a repeated pledge of determination: “No retreat, no surrender.”

The ratification event marks a significant step for the UPP as it intensifies its campaign efforts, positioning itself as a viable alternative government in the upcoming polls.
