All Saints East and St. Luke—long regarded as a political fortress for the United Progressive Party (UPP)—is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched battlegrounds in the upcoming general election, as Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Lamin Newton mounts a determined challenge against Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle.

For more than three decades, the constituency has remained firmly in the hands of the UPP, making it one of the party’s most secure seats. But Newton believes that narrative is about to change.

Speaking to Antigua.news reporter Robert Emmanuel following the ABLP’s campaign launch on Tuesday night, Newton expressed confidence that momentum on the ground is shifting.

  2. Yes, Pringle has been an absentee minister. However, you are only campaigning in All Saints and neglecting the rest of your potential constituents.
I’ve live in Swetes for close to a decade, and neither I nor my family members have seen you or felt any impact of your presence.
I am open to change, but my vote will not be wasted on any ghost minister. We vote for policies, good governance, consistency and accessibility, not party colors.

Both sides need to do better.
MY VOTE WILL NOT BE WASTED.
