ABEC has issued special ID Card requirements for Election Day

The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) has outlined the process for electors needing replacement identification ahead of General Elections 2026, with special arrangements in place for Election Day.

According to ABEC, voters whose Voter’s ID cards have expired can apply for a Special Identification Card on Thursday, April 30, at Registration Units within their respective constituencies. These units will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to accommodate applicants on polling day.

Electors seeking a Special ID must present a passport-sized photograph along with a valid government-issued identification.

Meanwhile, individuals whose valid Voter’s ID cards have been lost or stolen will be required to visit ABEC’s headquarters at the David Shoul Building on Queen Elizabeth Highway—formerly the U.S. Embassy, now housing the Passport Office. The office is located on the second floor.

Applicants in this category must also provide a valid government-issued ID and a passport-sized photograph to facilitate replacement.

ABEC has advised that all Special Identification Cards issued for Election Day will be collected at polling stations after use.
