Cabinet Approves New Equipment to Expand Road Rehabilitation Across Antigua and Barbuda

The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda on Wednesday received a comprehensive update from officials within the Ministry of Works on the progress of the Government’s ongoing national road rehabilitation and infrastructure programme, including major works currently underway on the All Saints Road corridor and several community road projects across the country.

The update was delivered by a delegation comprising the Minister of State within the Ministry of Works, the Permanent Secretary, the Director of Works and the Deputy Director of Works, who outlined the Ministry’s continued efforts to improve road conditions and expand rehabilitation works throughout Antigua and Barbuda.

Officials advised Cabinet that the road improvement programme will continue at its current pace, with increasing attention now being directed toward rural communities and smaller road networks requiring urgent rehabilitation.

As part of the discussions, Cabinet approved the acquisition of two additional pieces of specialized road construction equipment designed specifically to operate in narrower roadways and difficult-to-access areas where traditional paving machinery cannot easily function.

The new equipment is expected to significantly strengthen the Ministry’s ability to undertake rehabilitation and paving works in smaller communities and residential districts across the country.

Cabinet also approved the engagement of additional technical experts to support the Ministry’s ongoing infrastructure programme. Officials said the move is intended to improve project execution, operational efficiency and the overall quality of road construction and rehabilitation works nationwide.

During the meeting, Cabinet commended the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Works for what Ministers described as the “excellent work” currently being carried out throughout Antigua and Barbuda.

Government officials praised the Ministry’s dedication, professionalism and commitment to advancing the country’s ambitious infrastructure agenda while improving transportation networks and road safety for motorists and residents.

The Government further reaffirmed its commitment to continued investment in road.
