Police have recovered the Toyota Allion stolen from former police inspector Trevor Young during a brazen daylight theft earlier this week.

According to State Media, the vehicle was reportedly discovered abandoned in Scotts Hill with its licence plates removed, suggesting attempts may have been made to conceal its identity after the theft.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at the busy corner of Herberts and All Saints Roads. Young had reportedly stepped out of the vehicle briefly to make a purchase, leaving the engine running and the door open.

Moments later, surveillance footage captured a man entering the vehicle and driving away as the former inspector shouted and attempted to stop him.

The shocking theft quickly gained attention after video of the incident circulated online, showing the suspect speeding off in broad daylight.

Speaking after the incident, Young said he is normally careful about security and vehicle safety, but admitted this was the one occasion he had let his guard down.

Police have not yet confirmed whether any suspects have been detained in connection with the matter, and investigations are continuing.
