23 June 2026 - 21:12

A man died on Tuesday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency shortly after arriving at V.C. Bird International Airport aboard a regional flight from St. Lucia.

The passenger had just disembarked LIAT Flight 5L301 from Castries when he reportedly collapsed inside the airport terminal around 1 p.m.

Airport emergency personnel immediately sprang into action, with firefighters from the Coolidge Fire Station administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as efforts were made to revive him.

Emergency Medical Services later arrived and transported the man to hospital for further treatment. However, despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity, age, or nationality.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Police investigations are continuing.
