The Antigua and Barbuda Fire Department is appealing to anyone with information that could assist its investigation into an early morning fire on Old Parham Road to contact the relevant authorities.

The blaze completely destroyed a building opposite the M&M Service Station during the early hours of Thursday.

According to Fire Department Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lester Bagot, the St. John’s Fire Station received a report at approximately 1:07 a.m. that the building was on fire.

An immediate response was mounted, with No. 19 Fire Tender from the St. John’s Fire Station, No. 21 Fire Tender from the Coolidge Fire Station, and No. 18 Fire Tender from the All Saints Fire Station dispatched to the scene.

When firefighters arrived, they found the approximately 40-by-50-foot structure fully engulfed in flames. Crews immediately began firefighting operations, using water from the responding fire tenders to contain and extinguish the blaze.

Despite their efforts, the building and all of its contents were destroyed.

Inspector Bagot said the structure was undergoing repairs at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported.

The Fire Department has since launched an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
