Police Comissioner Everton Jeffers
Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers has issued one of his strongest warnings yet to the country’s criminal underworld, declaring that the Royal Police Force will aggressively confront violent offenders as the nation prepares for Carnival.
Speaking during a press conference on Thursday following a series of deadly shootings, Jeffers said the police have reached a point where they are no longer prepared to allow criminals to terrorize communities.
“We are tired of you coming in and driving fear in the community. We’re going to turn it around and we’re going to reverse that fear back to you. We’re coming for you,” Jeffers declared.
He warned anyone intending to commit violent crimes that law enforcement has developed operational strategies that will make it increasingly difficult for offenders to escape.
“If you decide that you’re going to come into the net, I want you to know when you come in, it’s not going to be very easy for you to get out. And if you’re coming in with fire, you’re going to meet fire also because we are not going to play with the public safety,” he said.
The Commissioner said police have already begun rolling out enhanced security operations ahead of Carnival, with additional personnel and law enforcement resources expected to become visible across the country.
He stressed that officers remain committed to using every available investigative tool to identify and arrest offenders.
“We will continue to deploy every available resource, intelligence capability and investigative tool at our disposal to identify, apprehend and bring those persons responsible before the court.”
Jeffers also referenced a video circulating on social media that allegedly threatened police officers.
“You don’t go around checking police. You will be getting a visit from us, sir—not long from now,” he warned.
The Commissioner urged members of the public to continue working alongside police by reporting suspicious activity, saying community cooperation remains essential to solving crimes.
