A Bellevue Estate man who survived a targeted shooting more than seven years ago is once again recovering after becoming the victim of another gun attack.

Alvin Spencer was shot in the neck on Tuesday night after arriving at his home in what police believe was a targeted attack.

The shooting reportedly occurred at around 9:30 p.m. According to information obtained, Spencer had just driven onto his property when a vehicle pulled up behind him. A masked gunman allegedly exited the vehicle, fired several rounds at him, then returned to the waiting vehicle, which sped away from the scene.

Emergency responders transported Spencer to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he underwent surgery. He is reported to be in stable condition.

According to True Crimes Antigua, the latest incident comes more than seven years after Spencer survived another shooting on June 17, 2019. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds during an attack in Perry Bay that investigators at the time described as targeted.

Police have since launched an investigation into Tuesday night’s shooting as detectives work to establish a motive and identify those responsible.

The attack has renewed concerns about gun violence on the island, particularly in cases where individuals appear to have been targeted on more than one occasion.

Police continue to appeal to members of the public to come forward, stressing that even the smallest piece of information could prove vital in bringing those responsible to justice.
