UWI Five Islands Campus Welcomes Historic First Cohort of Law Students

The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus has reached another historic milestone with the commencement of classes for its first cohort of Bachelor of Laws students.

The pioneering group officially began its studies on Wednesday, marking the launch of the LLB programme at the rapidly expanding campus in Antigua and Barbuda.

The inaugural cohort comprises students from across the region, including Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, and St Kitts and Nevis.

The programme’s introduction represents another significant step in the development of the Five Islands Campus and expands opportunities for students to pursue legal education within the region.

Campus officials described the occasion as more than the beginning of a new academic semester, noting that it also represents the start of a legacy in legal education.

The university celebrated the students’ ambition and courage as they began studying law and legal systems, while welcoming them into the UWI Five Islands Campus community.

“The path to justice, advocacy, and legal excellence starts here,” the campus said in a celebratory statement.

The university also expressed its anticipation of seeing the students develop into future lawyers, legal professionals and changemakers who will contribute to the advancement of the Caribbean.

The students are expected to complete the programme as members of the Class of 2029, becoming the first LLB graduates of the UWI Five Islands Campus.
