Buckley line Robbery
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of either of the two gunmen who carried out Friday afternoon’s armed robbery at the WIOC service station at Buckley Line.
Browne announced the reward on Saturday during the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe Broadcasting Network, as police continue their search for the two masked suspects.
The men struck the service station at around 4 p.m., both armed with guns.
Police said one of the men, carrying a handgun, entered the service station and robbed the cashier of an undisclosed amount of money. His accomplice, who was armed with a rifle, held a pump attendant at gunpoint and took a pouch containing cash from fuel sales.
The pair then fled on foot, with one shot reportedly fired during their escape. They later got into a dark purple Toyota Ractis and drove away.
Investigators recovered a spent shell from the scene.
Surveillance footage captured the frightening ordeal, showing workers cowering as the armed men carried out the robbery. One person could also be seen collapsing during the incident.
The robbery has added to concerns over armed crime and the use of illegal firearms in Antigua and Barbuda.
Police investigations are continuing, while the $10,000 reward now adds a financial incentive for anyone with information that could help authorities locate and arrest the suspects.
