The Rotary Club of Antigua has launched a week of activities commemorating its 54th anniversary, with members renewing their commitment to community service and creating a lasting impact across Antigua and Barbuda.

The anniversary observance began on Sunday, September 6, with a special thanksgiving service at Ebenezer Methodist Church. Rotarians gathered to reflect on the organisation’s achievements and more than five decades of service to the nation.

Delivering remarks on behalf of the club, President Anastasia Wilson paid tribute to the generations of Rotarians whose fellowship, dedication and service have shaped its legacy. She also urged current members to continue pursuing initiatives that make a meaningful and sustainable difference in the lives of others.

The anniversary week, which runs from September 6 to 12, is being held under the theme, “54 Years of Service Above Self – Creating Lasting Impact.”

Activities continue with Media Day on Monday, September 7, followed by Peace Literacy Reading Sessions at primary schools on Tuesday, September 8.

The club will host its 54th Anniversary Dinner Meeting on Wednesday, September 9, before members participate in a volunteer initiative at the Fiennes Institute on Thursday, September 10.

Rotarians will extend their outreach to Barbuda on Friday, September 11, through an eye-screening initiative for residents.

The celebrations will culminate on Saturday, September 12, with the Caribbean Wellness Day Glow Walk 2026.

The walk will bring together members of the Rotary Club of Antigua, Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown, Rotaract Club of Antigua and local Interact clubs.

Members of the public are being encouraged to participate in the event, which will be held under the theme, “Engage, Empower, Elevate: Working Together to Improve Health and Wellbeing for All.”

Registration costs $20, and participants will also have an opportunity to win raffle prizes, including a fruit basket, blood pressure monitor and finger pulse oximeter.

As the organisation prepares to enter its 55th year, Wilson called on members to remain humble and committed to improving their communities.

“As we look ahead, may we continue to serve with humility, may our Club continue to be a light in the community, a source of encouragement to those in need and a reminder that small acts of service can bring great blessings as we strive to create lasting impact,” she said.
