Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Kerew Richards of St Ann’s Road, Swetes Village.
Officers from the All Saints Police Station responded to the area at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Friday, September 11, after receiving reports of several explosions believed to be gunshots.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Richards lying motionless on the verandah of a residence with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds about his body.
Police said an unidentified assailant wearing a grey hoodie was reportedly seen running eastward from the area shortly after the shooting.
A medical doctor later arrived and pronounced Richards dead shortly after midnight on Saturday, September 12.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who was in the surrounding area and may have witnessed suspicious activity or heard anything relevant to come forward.
Swetes is usually a close-knit community. I hope residents come together and help the police find whoever did this.
