A no-case submission filed on behalf of Crosbies resident Nadeem Brandon Doumith has been dismissed, paving the way for him to face trial alone in the High Court on multiple drug charges, according to reports from court reporter Latrishka Thomas.

Doumith recently appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel, where his attorney, Wendel Alexander, argued that there was insufficient evidence to send the case to the High Court.

The magistrate rejected the submission, and the matter was scheduled for committal on September 14.

Doumith was originally charged alongside Jamaican businessman Francis Young of Hodges Bay. However, Young is no longer before the court after the charges against him were formally withdrawn in June on the instructions of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Young was represented by attorney Andrew Okola.

The charges arose from a joint operation involving the Narcotics Department and Customs officials at Deep Water Harbour on May 9, 2025.

During the operation, authorities reportedly discovered 62 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis concealed inside a brown cardboard box. The drugs weighed approximately 62 pounds and carried an estimated street value of EC$372,000.

Doumith faces five charges: conspiracy to commit drug trafficking, possession of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, importation of cannabis, and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

Following his committal, Doumith is expected to face the charges alone in the High Court.
