The Government is developing a comprehensive traffic-management plan as Antigua and Barbuda grapples with congestion linked to an estimated 50,000 vehicles.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne said discussions were already taking place on possible one-way systems, two-lane routes and larger roundabouts at key intersections.
A listener proposed converting the All Saints Road-American Road junction into a large two-lane roundabout and reviewing how other roads are used during the morning rush hour.
“Absolutely,” Browne responded. “Those discussions are taking place.”
He said the exercise would require cooperation among the Ministry of Public Works, the Development Control Authority, the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation and the police. Outside technical expertise may also be needed.
The Police Traffic Department has already developed recommendations, according to Browne.
“It has to be a multidisciplinary approach,” he said. “We have to put a comprehensive plan together.”
The prime minister also acknowledged complaints about roadside vendors and vehicles contributing to congestion near major routes, saying traffic flow and urban planning require coordinated enforcement and design.

Boy, the traffic getting ridiculous now! 😩 You could leave early and still end up sitting in traffic. Something definitely have to change
Back in primary school they taught us that carpooling was always an option. But i guess everyone wants to show off their ride. Enjoy the traffic.
Sky trains? We can hardle get proper roads. I saw how mad that was when these gas station people went on strike. We see the crazyness. I always say if we have an emergency we dont have any exit . Ambrulance can hardly pass. We in a serious ROAD problem and we dont even know it
Yeh it’s a lot to deal with especially during rush hours. Even the back roads are congested now
