Young Antiguan artist Annia Matthews put Antigua and Barbuda in the spotlight in London, delivering a standout performance at the recent launch of the CHOGM 2026 Cricket Match.

Matthews, who attended the event as a specially invited musical guest, performed her original song “Keep On”, drawing warm applause from those in attendance for her vocals and stage presence.

The song, which carries a message centred on mental health, also opened the door to another significant opportunity for the young artist.

Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey invited Matthews to co-host a roundtable discussion on Youth Mental Health to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

Matthews also had the opportunity to meet Antiguan and Barbudan cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards during the event. Richards commended the young singer for her talent and for continuing to represent Antigua and Barbuda internationally.

Foreign Affairs, Trade and Immigration Minister E.P. Chet Greene also praised Matthews’ performance and confirmed that she is expected to be involved in activities surrounding CHOGM 2026.

Her involvement is expected to provide further opportunities for her to showcase her talent while representing Antigua and Barbuda on the international stage.

Reflecting on the experience, Matthews described the occasion as an emotional and meaningful one.

“I felt truly honoured to perform at the launch of the CHOGM cricket match and to be in a room filled with so many people who have made, and continue to make, an impact across the Commonwealth,” she said.

“There was a real sense of connection in the room, and I felt emotionally connected to the significance of the moment.”
