Two members of Antigua and Barbuda’s Emergency Medical Services are heading to Orlando, Florida, to take part in an international conference focused on the latest developments in emergency medical care.
EMS Supervisor Akelia Carr and paramedic Mauli George are scheduled to attend EMS World 2026, which begins Monday and runs through October 5.
The conference brings together emergency medical professionals, healthcare practitioners, educators and industry experts for training sessions, discussions and exchanges on developments in emergency care.
According to the department, the conference will expose Carr and George to new technologies, clinical practices and international standards that could benefit emergency medical services in Antigua and Barbuda.
The two EMS professionals are expected to bring that knowledge back to their colleagues and share what they have learned as part of efforts to strengthen operations and improve service delivery.
EMS Director Shawn Greenidge said continued education and professional development remain important to maintaining and improving the quality of emergency medical care provided to the public.
The participation of Carr and George forms part of the department’s broader emphasis on keeping its personnel updated with evolving practices and developments within the emergency medical field.
