Two Held After Dennis Francis Wounded in Villa Shooting

Police have arrested two men in connection with the shooting of a 47-year-old Villa resident during an early-morning attack on Sunday.

Dennis Francis of E.A. Stephen Street was reportedly walking along Gordon Street at about 3:40 a.m. when he was approached by three men travelling in a silver Toyota Vitz.

According to preliminary police reports, the men were dressed in dark clothing and Francis attempted to escape as they allegedly pursued him.

He was shot during the incident, sustaining what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his lower back and abdomen.

Emergency Medical Services transported Francis to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remains in hospital.

Police said his condition is stable and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Within 24 hours of the shooting, investigators apprehended two male suspects who are now in police custody assisting with the investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and police have not indicated what may have led to the attack.
