New APUA Board Sworn In at Government House
Governor-General urges appointees to uphold accountability and focus on reliable water, electricity and telecommunications services.
A new Board of Directors for the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has been sworn in during a ceremony at Government House, presided over by Governor-General Sir Rodney Williams.
Luther Lee will serve as Chairman, with Purcell Bird as Deputy Chairman. The other board members are Senator Shaquan O’Neil, Elisabeth Fane, Tesfa Francis and Kelvin Benjamin. Sir McLean Emmanuel will serve as Consultant, while Joy Dublin is Corporate Secretary.
Congratulating the appointees, Sir Rodney reminded them of the significant public trust placed in those overseeing the country’s essential utility services.
He highlighted ongoing investment and modernisation across APUA, including expanded water-production capacity, improvements to water storage and distribution, and developments in electricity generation and distribution. He also pointed to initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience of the telecommunications network.
The Governor-General encouraged the Board to carry out its responsibilities with integrity, diligence, sound judgement and accountability. He also stressed the importance of independent thought while keeping the national interest and reliable service delivery at the centre of its work.
Following the ceremony, the appointees joined family members, friends and invited guests for photographs with the Governor-General.

New board, new responsibility. APUA services touch everybody, so we watching to see what gonna happen. We need water running, light staying on and the telecoms working proper. No long talk, people want to see results.
