Regional IPSC Experts to Lead Firearm Safety and Skills Training in Antigua and Barbuda

Reservoir Range at Potworks Dam will host a three-day IPSC Black Badge Training Programme from October 2-4, 2026, bringing certified practical shooting instructors from three Caribbean islands to Antigua and Barbuda.

The programme will focus on firearm safety, responsible handling, discipline, accuracy and sound decision-making, providing structured training for sport shooters, lawful firearm owners and members of law enforcement.

As a critical partner in firearm safety, law enforcement will also have the opportunity to participate in the programme and train alongside certified regional instructors, further strengthening practical skills in safe firearm handling, range discipline, accuracy and established shooting procedures.

The training comes at a particularly important time, as Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Caribbean face growing public concern surrounding firearm-related incidents. Organizers say the programme provides an opportunity to reinforce an equally important message: firearm safety begins with proper training, respect for the law, discipline and responsible handling.

“At a time when our society is understandably concerned about the unlawful and reckless use of firearms, we believe it is important to also promote a culture of responsibility among those who are legally authorized to possess and use them. Firearms demand discipline, sound judgement, proper training and an unwavering respect for safety,” organizers stated.

The programme is intended for lawful firearm owners and sport shooters and will provide participants with structured training in IPSC rules and match procedures, range safety and discipline, stage briefings and scoring, practical shooting fundamentals and match management.

IPSC, the International Practical Shooting Confederation, governs practical shooting as an international competitive sport, with safety forming a fundamental part of its rules, training and competition standards.

Organizers emphasize that the message of the programme is simple but important: responsible firearm ownership must always be accompanied by proper training, discipline, safety and accountability.

The IPSC Black Badge Training Programme takes place October 2, 3 and 4, 2026, at Reservoir Range, Potworks Dam, St. Paul Parish.
