Ministry Urges Public to Wear Pink and Prioritise Breast Health This October
Breast Cancer Awareness Month observance encourages awareness, appropriate screening and support for those affected by the disease.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs is encouraging residents to wear pink every Friday during October as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, while placing greater emphasis on awareness, early detection and timely care.
Health Minister Michael Joseph urged members of the public to take responsibility for their breast health by paying attention to unusual changes and seeking medical advice promptly.
“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an important reminder that we must take our health seriously,” Joseph said.
He encouraged persons to know their bodies and speak with their healthcare providers about the screening appropriate for them.
Joseph also called on residents to use the month’s activities to encourage loved ones to get checked and offer support to those affected by breast cancer, stressing that wearing pink should carry a purpose beyond the symbolic gesture.
The Ministry’s awareness message highlights changes that warrant medical attention, including a lump or thickening, changes in breast size or shape, skin or nipple changes, and unusual discharge.
Anyone noticing concerning changes is encouraged to consult a healthcare provider promptly.
Throughout October, the Ministry is urging the public to combine its show of solidarity with conversations about breast health and practical support for individuals and families affected by the disease.

A very important reminder this Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💗 Early detection can make a significant difference, so let’s continue encouraging regular screenings, greater awareness and open conversations about breast health. We also stand in support of the fighters, celebrate the survivors and remember those we have lost.
