Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority Secures Seat on Regional Aviation Board
The 2026–2027 appointment gives the authority a stronger voice in regional discussions on airport development, safety and connectivity.
The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) has been appointed to the Governing Board of Airports Council International–Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) for the 2026–2027 term.
The appointment was announced during the ACI-LAC/ACI World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition, held in Lima, Peru, from September 25 to 29. ABAA Chief Executive Officer Kurt A.G. Menal represented Antigua and Barbuda at the gathering.
In a release issued on October 6, the authority said the board seat would strengthen the country’s voice in regional aviation affairs and provide greater opportunities to engage with airport operators, aviation authorities and other industry stakeholders.
The appointment is expected to support the exchange of technical knowledge and best practices, while opening avenues for partnerships involving airport infrastructure, operational efficiency, safety and security, sustainability and technology.

Passenger experience and air connectivity are also among the areas in which the authority hopes to advance cooperation.
The ABAA highlighted the importance of aviation to Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry and wider economy, noting that a competitive airport sector supports international travel, business and investment.
ACI-LAC is the regional organisation of Airports Council International, the global association representing more than 2,200 airports across over 160 countries. Its work includes advocacy, training, technical cooperation and collaboration on issues affecting airports throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
The authority said it would use its participation on the board to strengthen strategic relationships, develop institutional capacity and pursue opportunities supporting the continued development of Antigua and Barbuda’s aviation sector.
