Prime Minister Gaston Browne has urged residents to support locally manufactured goods, highlighting a new toilet paper business operating in Antigua and Barbuda.

On the Browne and Browne Show, Browne said a female entrepreneur had launched a three-ply toilet paper product and that he intended to invite her onto a future programme.

He also referred to a larger toilet paper operation expected to become operational next year, with the possibility of supplying export markets.

Browne said the developments were encouraging signs for local manufacturing and called on consumers to buy products made in the country.

The names of the businesses and the larger operation’s developer were not clear in the transcript.

The Prime Minister did not provide production figures, employment estimates

or a specific opening date for the proposed factory.

I remember we had a toilet paper factory on the airport road. The factory was owned and operated by Donna Chia late father. The same Donna Chia on Point FM Radio on Saturday with PM Gaston Browne.
