Antigua and Barbuda has been named the Caribbean’s Leading Wedding Destination 2026 at the World Travel Awards, earning another international honour for its tourism industry.

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority announced the recognition on October 12, highlighting the destination’s combination of beachfront settings, personalised services and experienced wedding professionals.

Colin C. James, chief executive officer of the Tourism Authority, said the award reflects both the country’s appeal to couples and the work of tourism partners who help organise their celebrations.

“Being named the Caribbean’s Leading Wedding Destination 2026 is a tremendous honour for Antigua and Barbuda and a reflection of the strength of our romance tourism offering,” James said.

He said couples increasingly want an experience that extends beyond the wedding ceremony, allowing relatives and friends to spend time together while professionals handle the details.

“Couples are looking for more than a beautiful location. They want a destination where their celebration feels special from the moment they arrive, where their families and friends can create memories together and where the details are handled with care,” he said.

James credited the talent, creativity and dedication of industry partners with helping the destination maintain its appeal.

“This award belongs to the entire industry that continues to make our destination a favourite for love, celebration and unforgettable moments,” he said.

The Tourism Authority also highlighted the range of romantic occasions catered for across the islands, including honeymoons, anniversaries, proposals and vow renewals.

According to the authority, couples wishing to marry in Antigua and Barbuda benefit from no residency requirement and no waiting period for a marriage licence, adding convenience to the destination’s wedding offering.

The World Travel Awards recognise excellence across the travel and tourism industry, with categories covering destinations and a range of tourism services.
