Antigua and Barbuda will host the 36th Annual Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) Conference and Exhibition in 2027, bringing approximately 300 delegates to the country for discussions on water security, infrastructure and sustainable development.

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA), which announced the hosting arrangement in an October 15 release, will serve as the local host organisation.

The announcement was made during this year’s CWWA Conference and Exhibition in Grenada, where Minister responsible for Utilities Melford Nicholas is leading an Antiguan and Barbudan delegation. The group includes APUA Chief Executive Officer John Bradshaw, Water Business Unit Manager Jason Peters and other representatives of the authority.

Nicholas said hosting the conference would provide an opportunity for Caribbean countries to strengthen cooperation on challenges affecting water supplies.

“Across the Caribbean, we face many of the same challenges in securing reliable and sustainable water supplies,” he said. “This conference provides an important opportunity to share experiences, explore practical solutions and build stronger partnerships.”

The 2027 gathering is expected to attract government ministers, policymakers, utility executives, water and wastewater professionals, technical experts and regional and international suppliers of products, services and technologies.

Its programme will include high-level policy discussions, technical presentations, industry exhibitions and networking opportunities, allowing participants to examine developments and potential solutions in the water and wastewater sectors.

“We are pleased to bring this regional gathering to Antigua and Barbuda in 2027, and we look forward to welcoming delegates to our shores while showcasing the very best of what our country has to offer,” Nicholas said.

According to APUA, the event will also provide a platform to highlight its ongoing investments in water infrastructure and service delivery, while promoting Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism offerings, culture and hospitality.

The conference dates, venue and full programme will be announced later.
