High Street Connected to New Water Main as Cabinet Orders Service Checks
APUA reports progress on the capital’s water upgrades, but must verify pressure and performance.
High Street is now receiving water through a newly installed main, marking progress in the programme to replace ageing water infrastructure in St John’s.
APUA confirmed the development during an October 14 presentation to Cabinet on utility works and road rehabilitation ahead of CHOGM.
The authority reported that installation of the new distribution lines had been completed, although final connections and other associated works remained outstanding.
Cabinet instructed APUA to verify the performance of the new lines and investigate any concerns involving water pressure or service delivery.
The directive places attention on how the upgraded system functions, alongside the completion of construction.
High Street was also identified as a priority for the remaining utility work so that road repairs could proceed without further avoidable delays.
According to the Cabinet report, the infrastructure programme is intended to deliver lasting improvements for residents and businesses, while preparing the capital to host Commonwealth leaders in November.
The report did not provide pressure readings, a detailed testing schedule or a timetable for resolving any individual service complaints.
