Antiguan and Barbudan musicians, cultural performers and production personnel could gain international exposure through a proposed film and tourism project featuring Louis Tomlinson.

The initiative, presented to Cabinet by Vertigo Live, identifies opportunities to include local music, steelpan performances and elements of Carnival.

Shirley Heights and the country’s coastal scenery were also highlighted as potential features.

According to the October 14 Cabinet report, the project could create opportunities for cultural practitioners, tourism businesses and local production workers to participate in an internationally distributed entertainment initiative.

Cabinet welcomed the emphasis on incorporating the country’s cultural identity into the production.

The visiting representatives also indicated that Tomlinson had expressed interest in supporting a local charitable organisation.

No beneficiary, donation amount or charitable arrangement was announced.

Government agencies are expected to discuss engagement with local practitioners and opportunities for private-sector participation as the proposal develops.

The report did not identify selected local performers or provide a recruitment process for production personnel.

Cabinet’s endorsement allows further discussions to proceed, with the details of participation, financing and operational responsibilities still subject to agreement.
