Kiz Johnson in Panama to Represent Antigua and Barbuda at Regional Development Forum
Minister of State will join regional counterparts for discussions on inclusive development, reducing inequality and building resilience.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation, Hon. Kiz Johnson, is in Panama to represent Antigua and Barbuda at the XVIII Ministerial Forum for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The forum will take place on October 20 and 21 in Panama City, bringing together ministers and senior officials responsible for social, economic, productive and environmental policies across the region.
Under the theme “Connecting Policies for Resilient Development,” participants will examine how closer coordination across these areas can improve lives, reduce inequalities and help countries respond to economic, social and environmental challenges.
Johnson is representing Antigua and Barbuda following an invitation extended to Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, Hon. Rawdon Turner.
The programme will feature four ministerial round tables, providing opportunities for participating countries to share experiences, discuss national policies and explore practical avenues for regional cooperation.
Among the issues on the agenda are the opportunities and challenges presented by green and digital transitions, strengthening public institutions and productive capacities, and financing more inclusive and sustainable development.
The forum will also be held alongside the Seventh Meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Social Development in Latin America and the Caribbean of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Johnson’s participation provides an opportunity for Antigua and Barbuda to contribute to regional discussions on social development while exchanging ideas on policies that can better support communities and strengthen resilience.
