Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor Ariel Joseph has added an international qualification to her professional achievements, becoming the latest Sandals Grande Antigua team member to benefit from the resort's investment in higher education and leadership development.
Joseph recently completed a Diploma in Executive Hotel Management at Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland, following the award of a scholarship through Sandals Corporate University (SCU) in 2025.
Her accomplishment represents a significant step in her professional journey, particularly as she continues to establish herself as a female leader in engineering and maintenance, an area of the hospitality industry traditionally dominated by men.
Reflecting on her success, Joseph expressed gratitude to Sandals for providing an opportunity that has strengthened her leadership abilities and broadened her understanding of hospitality management.
“Receiving the Sandals Corporate University scholarship was an incredible opportunity and completing my studies at Les Roches is a milestone that I am extremely proud of,” Joseph said.
“I am grateful to Sandals for believing in my potential and investing in my professional development. The experience has strengthened my knowledge, expanded my perspective and motivated me to continue striving for excellence in my career.”
She also thanked Sandals Corporate University for supporting her academic journey and allowing her to grow both professionally and personally.
Joseph's achievement has been welcomed by the management of Sandals Grande Antigua, which continues to encourage employees to pursue educational opportunities and advance into leadership positions.
Learning and Development Manager Carlene Spencer described the accomplishment as an example of the opportunities available when organisations invest in the development of their employees.
“Sandals Corporate University is a testament to our commitment to investing in our people. We believe that education and continuous professional development are essential to building confident, capable leaders who can contribute meaningfully to the future of our industry,” Spencer said.
“Ariel’s achievement is a primary example of what can happen when talent is supported with opportunity and we are extremely proud of her accomplishment.”
The latest achievement also highlights the importance of expanding opportunities for women to advance in technical and supervisory positions within the hospitality sector.
Joseph joins a growing number of Sandals Grande Antigua employees who have pursued additional qualifications through the company's educational programmes.
Recently, six supervisors and managers at the resort successfully completed the Sandals Corporate University's Diploma in Hospitality Leadership programme, offered in partnership with Florida International University.
The programme forms part of Sandals Resorts' wider efforts to strengthen its leadership pipeline by equipping employees with the knowledge and skills needed to take on greater responsibilities.
Through scholarships, professional training and partnerships with international academic institutions, Sandals Corporate University continues to provide opportunities for employees to further their education while contributing to the development of the hospitality industry.
For Joseph, the qualification marks another important chapter in a career that continues to demonstrate the value of determination, professional growth and opportunities for women in leadership.
