Two women have been sentenced to 11 days behind bars after admitting to stealing more than $4,000 worth of clothing from a boutique in the heart of St. John’s earlier this month.
Cleo Lemonious, 25, of Cooks Hill, and Latoya Pilliner, 29, of Gray Hill, appeared before the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 23, where they both pleaded guilty to larceny.
The women were jointly charged in connection with the theft of several articles of clothing valued at EC$4,405 from Hampton Boutique, located at the intersection of Market and Redcliffe Streets in the capital.
Following their guilty pleas, the court sentenced each woman to 11 days at His Majesty’s Prison, taking into account the time they had already spent on remand.
The case arose from an incident at the boutique earlier in October, which subsequently led to the women being charged.
In a further development, both women were handed over to the Immigration Department following Friday’s court proceedings.
Authorities have not disclosed the reason for their referral to immigration officials or whether any additional action will be taken.

I hope that they will be deported. Send them back home so that they can terrorize their own country!
