Bus Station Upgrades to be Placed Before Cabinet This Week
Prime Minister accepts concerns over facilities while urging users to help keep them clean.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne says he will place the condition of St. John’s bus stations before Cabinet after a caller raised concerns about the facilities.
Browne accepted that structural deficiencies required government attention and said the stations should be considered for upgrades.
He distinguished those responsibilities from the cleanliness of the facilities, saying passengers and operators also had a role to play.
The Prime Minister said users should properly dispose of garbage and avoid contributing to unsanitary conditions.
He indicated that the matter would become a Cabinet agenda item, but did not announce a budget, design or implementation date.
Browne’s response signalled an intention to review the stations’ condition and determine what improvements should be undertaken.
