Former Miss Antigua and Barbuda 2016 and TikTok content creator Leanda Ann Norville was left shaken after an unknown assailant allegedly choked her, forced her to the ground and wounded her with a sharp object during a robbery on Monday afternoon.

The 35-year-old was walking along Five Islands Main Road from her home in Hatton towards the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, a route she regularly takes for exercise, when the attack occurred.

According to Norville’s account to police, she noticed a man approaching on foot from the opposite direction. Wearing headphones and seeing nothing that initially raised concern, she continued walking.

As they drew closer, the man allegedly crossed the road, grabbed her around the neck and pushed her to the ground.

Norville said she fought back and screamed for help while several vehicles passed without initially stopping. During the struggle, the attacker reportedly produced a sharp object, cutting her waist and hands as she tried to defend herself.

A female motorist eventually stopped and got out of her vehicle to help. The assailant then reportedly fled into nearby bushes with Norville’s gold chain, mobile phone and headphones. A male motorist stopped shortly afterwards to offer further assistance.

The female motorist contacted the Gray’s Farm Police Station, and responding officers searched the surrounding area. Norville and the two motorists reportedly provided statements to investigators.

Norville described the suspect as dark-skinned, of average height and wearing his hair in plaits.

Police have confirmed that the incident remains under active investigation.

Her mother, Collet Amin, expressed relief that her daughter had survived the ordeal.

“I am thankful my daughter is okay, as the situation could have been much worse,” Amin said.

Norville and her family also thanked the two motorists who stopped, expressing gratitude for their intervention and willingness to help.
