Oliver’s Residents Facing Infrastructure Delays Promised Relief
Prime Minister says CHOGM preparations diverted resources, with improvements likely to advance early in the new year.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has assured residents of the Oliver’s housing development that their roads, kerbs and drainage will be addressed.
Responding to a resident’s complaints, Browne acknowledged frustration over the condition of infrastructure in the community.
He said National Housing workers had been diverted to the National Performing Arts Centre, while Public Works resources had been directed towards roads needed for CHOGM.
The Prime Minister said those competing priorities had delayed work that would otherwise have advanced in housing communities.
Browne said he expected relief could begin early in the new year, although he did not provide a firm mobilisation date.
He also said Parliamentary Representative Anthony Smith had raised the matter in Cabinet.
The Prime Minister assured residents that government would not leave National Housing developments without the supporting infrastructure they required.
