A walk through Jennings turned violent for a 66-year-old woman who was reportedly grabbed around the neck from behind and robbed of her gold chain on Friday afternoon.

The woman was walking west along a side road near an ice cream shop when the attacker approached her around 3:45 p.m. on October 23.

Reports indicate that she fell during the attack, after which the man pulled off her 18-karat gold chain and fled east on foot. It remains unclear whether she was injured.

She reported the incident to the Bolans Police Station. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect or recover the chain.

The man is described as dark-skinned, slim and approximately five feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing blue three-quarter-length pants.

The incident comes amid a recent police warning about an increase in thefts targeting people wearing gold jewellery.

Police have urged members of the public to avoid displaying expensive jewellery and to report suspicious activity promptly. Jewellery stores, pawn shops and gold dealers have also been asked to watch for suspicious transactions.

Investigations are continuing. Anyone with information about the Jennings robbery is asked to contact the Bolans Police Station or the nearest police station.
