Antigua and Barbuda is seeking to turn the international attention surrounding CHOGM 2026 into lasting economic opportunities, with a major Business Forum expected to connect local and international stakeholders with potential investors and development partners.

The Government is positioning the forum as an important component of the Commonwealth gathering, with discussions expected to focus on investment, commercial partnerships and sustainable economic growth.

Financial Secretary Rasona Davis Crump outlined preparations for the event during Wednesday's Cabinet meeting, highlighting its potential to strengthen Antigua and Barbuda's economic relationships across the Commonwealth.

The forum will bring together business leaders, investors, policymakers, development partners and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration.

It is also expected to provide a platform for private-sector representatives to engage directly with government officials and prospective business partners.

For Antigua and Barbuda, the event presents an opportunity to showcase its investment potential to an international audience while promoting the country as a destination for business development.

Cabinet was informed that the forum will complement discussions among Commonwealth leaders by placing greater emphasis on practical commercial opportunities and economic cooperation.

The Government is particularly interested in using the gathering to encourage investment in priority sectors, support economic diversification and strengthen relationships with international partners.

The forum is also expected to highlight opportunities across the wider Caribbean, recognising the potential for regional businesses to benefit from stronger Commonwealth economic ties.

During the presentation, the Financial Secretary emphasised the importance of coordination between government agencies and the private sector to ensure that the event produces meaningful outcomes.

Cabinet welcomed the briefing, acknowledging the forum's role in advancing the wider objectives of CHOGM 2026.

The Government believes the gathering could contribute to business expansion, employment creation and stronger international commercial relationships.

However, the success of those ambitions will depend on the partnerships and investment opportunities that emerge from the discussions.

As Antigua and Barbuda prepares to welcome Commonwealth leaders and business representatives, the Government is seeking to ensure that the benefits of hosting the international meeting extend beyond the diplomatic proceedings.

The Business Forum forms part of that effort, with officials hoping to use the country's international exposure to strengthen its position as an attractive destination for investment and economic development.
