CHOGM Arrivals Bring Surge of Activity to V.C. Bird International Airport
Delegates receive a warm welcome as Antigua and Barbuda prepares to host representatives from across the Commonwealth.
V.C. Bird International Airport bustled with activity on Thursday as delegates arrived in Antigua and Barbuda ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
Aircraft operated by American Airlines, Air Canada, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways were among those on the tarmac, while inside the terminal, arriving passengers and conference participants moved through the entry process.
The growing number of visitors also brought increased traffic outside the terminal, where police officers directed motorists and coordinated vehicle movements. Musical entertainment added a festive touch to the reception, giving international guests an early taste of the country’s hospitality.
Antigua and Barbuda is preparing to host leaders, officials and other participants from across the Commonwealth for CHOGM 2026, with airport activity expected to continue as more delegations arrive.
The influx marks a significant moment in preparations for the gathering, with the airport serving as the first point of contact for many of the country’s international guests.
