The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has thanked India for donating minivans and motorcycles to support the country’s hosting of the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
In a statement of appreciation, the government described the donation as a timely contribution that will strengthen logistical capacity as Antigua and Barbuda welcomes Commonwealth leaders and delegates.
“This timely contribution is far more than a gesture of goodwill. It is a most tangible demonstration of India’s enduring friendship and its commitment to the success of our hosting of CHOGM,” the statement said.
The government said the vehicles will help the country welcome participants with the efficiency, dignity and warmth for which Antigua and Barbuda is known.
It also praised India’s partnership with small island developing states, describing the assistance as recognition of the challenges smaller nations face when undertaking major international responsibilities.
“India’s generosity reflects a profound understanding of the challenges we face and a genuine willingness to stand with us. For this, we are truly grateful,” the statement continued.
The donation was also welcomed as evidence of the growing bilateral relationship between the two countries, which the government said is grounded in shared values, mutual respect and a commitment to cooperation.
Antigua and Barbuda expressed its intention to deepen that partnership in the years ahead, adding that the benefits of India’s support would extend beyond the meeting.
“To the Government and people of India, thank you. Your support will leave a lasting legacy long after the CHOGM delegates have returned home,” the statement said.
