Halo Art Workshop Nears Finale, With Royal Drawing School Scholarships on Offer
Free classes at Government House bring generations together, with two participants set to earn Royal Drawing School online scholarships.
Two participants in the Halo Foundation’s annual art initiative will receive scholarships for a ten-week online workshop with the United Kingdom’s Royal Drawing School as this year’s programme approaches its November 4 conclusion.
Sponsored by the Jumby Bay Fund, the workshop has been running at Government House since October 12, providing free opportunities for participants to strengthen their drawing skills and explore artistic expression.
This year’s programme welcomed people aged 12 and older, including senior citizens, extending its reach across generations. Free participation also helped make the classes accessible to aspiring artists from varying socioeconomic backgrounds.
Selected artwork produced during the programme will be featured in an exhibition at Government House. The top two participants will receive the online scholarships in recognition of their creativity and outstanding work.
The workshop’s final day coincides with the conclusion of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), bringing the initiative to a close during a significant week for Antigua and Barbuda.
Her Excellency Lady Williams said the foundation also hopes to renew the involvement of local artists in next year’s programme.
“We usually work along with our very talented, renowned artists in Antigua and Barbuda, and we were very pleased to have Anson Henry on board in 2025,” she said.
She explained that artists approached for this year’s workshop were already committed to other projects and were unable to join the teaching team.
“We are looking forward to their involvement again in 2027,” Lady Williams added.
Through the initiative, the Halo Foundation continues to promote creativity and youth development while giving emerging artists of different ages an opportunity to develop their talent and showcase their work.
