Rotary Club Of Antigua Funds Google Classroom Pilot For Grade 4 Teachers
The initiative will help teachers use digital tools to strengthen classroom instruction, track student progress and prepare pupils for end-of-year assessments, including during CHOGM.

Fourth-grade teachers across several schools in Antigua are receiving additional support to integrate technology into their classrooms through a pilot programme funded by the Rotary Club of Antigua.
The initiative centres on the use of Google Classroom to improve lesson delivery, monitor students' academic progress and provide continued access to learning materials as teachers prepare pupils for their end-of-year assessments.
Participating teachers began the programme with an orientation session on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) period.
The training is being facilitated by Mako S. Williams, a technology integration consultant with the Caribbean Tech Genius Foundation and designer of the Systemic Technology Integration Training Series (STITS).
The programme has been helping teachers incorporate technology into classroom instruction for more than 11 years. Its impact was particularly evident in 2020, when the training played a significant role in strengthening teachers' use of technology and supporting lead teachers responsible for administering Google Classroom.
Through the pilot, teachers will receive practical training in organising classroom materials, setting learning objectives, assessing students' understanding, providing meaningful feedback and tracking individual progress.
Google Classroom will also allow students to access course information and revisit lessons throughout the academic year, giving them an additional resource for revision ahead of their final assessments.
The initiative is particularly timely as teachers use the digital platform to support continued instruction during the CHOGM period, helping students maintain access to their learning materials.
The Rotary Club of Antigua has supported education in the country since 2009, including the provision of computers to students and teacher-training initiatives spanning more than a decade.
The latest programme builds on that commitment, with a targeted approach aimed at equipping Grade 4 teachers with the tools and skills to support improved learning outcomes.
